NLTSGO, Teachers Camp Baguio City

Day 0 (September 5, 2008)
It was 3:00 AM, September 5, 2008 when we, the student leadres from Ilocos Sur National High School with our SSG advisers Mrs. Editha Giron and Mr. Edgar Pescador arrived at Baguio City. There were eighteen student leadres, and two advisers and a total of twenty from Vigan city. It was 2:00 am when we felt the bannking of roads, breathtaking Naguillan Road, aching of our ears because of the pressure and saw different houses built on the mountainside blinking like stars in the dark.
It was a great opprtunity for us to attend the National Leadership Training for Student overnment Officers with the theme: Responding to the Needs of 21st Century Leadership: Equipping Student-Leaders in Reaching out to Peers to have our skills in the preparation for the bigger roles for the shool, community, and the country as well. I could feel the warm welcome of Baguio City with .its cold weather, the fresh smell of pine trees, their unique culture and tradition and their overwhelming tourists magnets. As I took my last step down to Partas Station, a super chilly air comforted me and that makes me feel relaxed and excited. We tried to take a bath with a very cold water as if there were ice placed on it. We also have a daily schedule to do different rasks like incharge for our food, the dorm and taking down notes during lectures. After the trip in Mines View Park and SM Baguio, the program was started. Walking infront of the Benitez Hall for the Orientation and Welcome socials, Miguel Agila, an actor and recording artist was there. he was good in dancing, singing and capella songs. Mrs. Nanette Inventor, the Donya Guada in "dyesebel" was a good actress and a comedienne. The two of them performed after the Program. Mr. Joey G. Pelaez, CSCA Executive Director started the Orientation Program. She told a story about Marianeth Amper who killed herself out of desperation. That's why he insisted on this years NLTSGO's topic w/c focuses on enablingstudent leaders implement on peer counselling program as a wayto address bothe the lack of guidance counsellors in public schools and the need of the students to be guided as a riddance of such bad influence.:)
